I'm Michaela Avlund and I have a special interest in Happiness Skills and Assertive Living. Having grown up with a mother in and out of mental institutions, I've always wondered how we human beings keep ourselves well and happy as well as spiritually sound.
Over the years I've taken an MSc in Positive Psychology, written the 'Happiness Skills based on Positive Psychology' book and given courses in these skills in Ireland and South Africa. I've taught Happiness Skills courses in Secondary Schools as they are skills I wish I had known as a teenager, the skills that we human beings use to be well and happy.
Recently, I've been particularly fascinated by the assertive living skills needed to take control of our lives. So often we can end up living the life we believe is expected rather than taking the courage to learn how to live the adventurous life that we long for from deep within. A life that energises us and makes us want to get out of bed in the morning.
